Roy is taking a class this week, which leaves me to my own defenses. Tomorrow I get to go get a crown on (don’t envy my glam life) then eat soft stuff with my friends. Maybe I’ll see if I can get some quality me time at Starbucks.
So today I took my Little Handsome (Flik) and my Big Handsome (Wiley) for a four mile run, then came home and de-dogged some of our rugs. Our house is not a show place. It is a place where two very busy humans and five very active dogs live. Doggie countdown:

Dash: Our lab/pit mix. He is about 90 pounds of love. His best friend is Dobby. The two of them will play together for HOURS! He plays with the others too (except Wiley). He’s just a big doof. We’ve had him since he was a puppy.

Wiley aka Big Handsome, is our Heeler/Shepherd/Basenji mix. We got him when his family needed to rehome him. He is a total herding breed. He is bossy, likes to control things, and does not suffer fools. He is my running buddy and has been for five years. Sadly he’s nine now and starting to slow down. I’ve taken him as long as 20 miles, but now 4-5 is about max.

Flik is a Boston Terrier/Chihuahua mix we rescued last summer when his owners moved away and didn’t leave him a forwarding address. He is my Little Handsome and believe it or not, this little guy runs 13 miles with me some mornings! He is very expressive so I love taking photos of him. When he is upset, it’s all over his face…as the photo below taken at the dog park when we wanted him to swim in the lake shows

Dobby aka Dobbins aka Mr. Happy is a dachshund chihuahua mix and is our little clown. Him and Dash are SUPER buds and it is the cutest thing in the world to watch them play tug; Dash’ 90 pounds pretending to pull his 17 pounds. Dobby usually wins.

Last but not least, Princess Dot. We had never really wanted small dogs. We had Dash and Wiley. Suddenly I got an emergency “Can someone take this little dog!” text one afternoon while out kayaking. I texted back asking if she had a photo and any information. I got a grainy pic of a little “thing” and a phone number. Within 15 minutes the words no had come out of my husband’s mouth 10 times, and finally I said “Oh come on. You have been married to me for 25 years. You know I always get my way so let’s cut to the chase and go get her!”
We found out later that the man who had her had threatened to dump her in the woods if someone didn’t take her. We have never been sorry for a moment. She is a mama’s girl, a total love, the one who wears the skirts in the family (she doesn’t believe in pants, although she does have a few pair), and quite the fashionista. As much as we can figure, she is Chihuaha, Chinese Crested, Muppet, Gremlin mix. She’s 7 pounds of fiest and we love her!
We all hung around together for awhile and then I decided to make jam because, well I had blueberries! My next post will have the recipe. It’s a total keeper and SO easy if you have a bread machine!
