Ran down to the park to meet Shirley, Cynthia, and Susan to run. Since Susan doesn’t run and Cynthia’s getting back into it, we did a run/walk combination for two miles out to the library and back. After gabbing in the parking lot for awhile, everyone left and I went ahead and finished another 3.6 miles or so to hit 6 miles.

Run: Jennings Park run

Total Mileage this Week: 16:41

Blessing: A group of teenagers were walking towards me and I thought “Oh please don NOT hassle me…so not in the mood” and instead of hassling, they smiled and waved and said hello. Bad me for assuming…

Photo: One of the things I LOVE doing in the spring is running under flowering trees and looking up into a sea of flowers. Today’s photo is the flowers from an apple tree at a park about 1.5 miles from home.

I know, I know…I take a lot of pictures of flowers. It is because in the great state I live in, it is SO grey and dreary all Winter. When Spring hits the smells, sounds, and colors are almost overwhelming! Since I can’t photograph smells (which may be a Very Good Thing), you’ll have to settle for colors…or flowers!

This is a petunia in my hanging basket at home. I love my little white house with the funky blue diamonds on the door, the aluminum awnings, and the flowers in the front yard. This color just makes me smile every time I come home.

Listened to: my new and old friends talk.

Have I mentioned that one of my sister’s good friends from high school is in my group? I love that! I have always REALLY liked Lisa (and no, I don’t think she reads my blog so I’m not sucking up). Having her around once a week makes me feel closer to Kendra. I miss her. I miss all my sisters, even Craig. ;)

Dropped the van off with Roy and rain home. I went kind of a meandering route because the weather was SO beautiful!

Took a picture of this house about half a mile from home. I always smile when I pass it because of the fence. It looks like someone had WAY too much fun with a jigsaw!

After a rough morning, Roy finally told me to go out for a run. I wasn’t feeling like it, but I did. I’m glad I did. I wasn’t out there two minutes before I just felt BETTER. I didn’t even listen to music. I just listened to birds sing.

I hit Starbucks and he joined me. We read the paper and talked, me in a much happier frame of mind. Then I ran over to Home Depot and he came behind with the van. We picked up some stuff, and did our shopping. The afternoon was spent reorganizing my office so clients can actually SIT IN IT, and cleaning the utility room.

Run: Starbucks!
Mileage: 4.15
Time: 43:45
Total mileage for week: 4:15
Blessing: Birds singing

Photo is a trillium flower I saw as I ran along the path behind Quil Ceda Village. Aren’t they beautiful?

Here’s Erin! I love Erin. She’s one of my runners I’m coaching to her first marathon. Ron and I are behind her. We had a great run today. This was Erin and Ron’s longest run, 14.2 miles. I was tired because of my crazy week and had to walk at one point, but they waited up for me! Yay Erin and Ron!
We also ran with Megan (yay Megan, her longest run today too at 10 miles), Becky, and Tami and had some great talks as we ran. I so appreciated having them with me today and all the things that, as a group, they do for me and we do for each other. I love these people.
Run: Tour of Marysville out to Casino, to 116th, south to 52nd, back up Sunnyside.
Mileage: 14.2
Time: 2:40
Weather: Drizzly and chilly…in other words, perfect weather for running
Blessing: Running with new friends (except Ron who I’ve known since high school), and seeing Roy at mile 11 with water and Gu.
Total Mileage for Week: 72!!!!!! Highest mileage week evah!

Today my run was more for transportation. My legs were VERY tired from the 50k and boot camp all week, so I needed the day off but I’m streaking right now. So Roy and I had dinner and then he headed back to the high school and I ran 2.5 miles home. After getting ready for my marathon class, I ran back to the high school to help with the play.

Run: Hagens to Home, Home to MPHS
Mileage: 6.29
Time: 1:08
Blessing: These flowers at the park. I love the contrast of yellow and orange in this particular narcissus
Total Mileage for Week: 58 miles

A Year of Running April 23

Tonight I had late interviews that went from 4:00-6:00 and then had to jet to the high school for opening night of The Wedding Singer (my husband’s play). So that didn’t leave a lot of time to run. I decided to do 4-5 miles out on Airport Road, one of the unloveliest stretches of road in the world.

But yet I found these flowers in a tree in the parking lot of an old car lot/gas station. They were hanging off the tree so I just took out my camera, paused for a second, and snapped it off. I love the picture with the blue sky behind it! I also love how you can find beauty anywhere!

Run: Airport Road and Evergreen Way in Everett
Mileage: 5.17 miles
Time: 53 min
Blessing: Being greeted by one of my students as I ran back in
Weather: Sunny but chilly with some clouds

More Fungus

Ran out the park, but no one showed up which was totally fine. I didn’t advertise very “loudly” this week because initially I had a commitment. Ran out to 64th and then up along 47th, down Third, and across the bridge to see my slough. I love my slough.
Before my regular run, though, I ran down around the pond in the park. I saw tadpole…big huge tadpoles, on the turtle bridge. In a month there will be red eared sliders sunning their little carapaces on that board! Then took a photo of the skunk cabbage, that actually looked really beautiful in all its greens. Finally saw some awesome fungus growing on one of the trees and caught this picture. It wasn’t hard to catch. Fungus doesn’t run very fast.
Run: Around town
Blessing: Tadpoles! It reminded me of when I was a kid and we’d come to this park every spring and harvest frog eggs, grow them into tadpoles, and eventually into frogs. Then we’d make little paper hats for them. We were very inventive.
Total mileage: 5:07
Time: 53
Weather: Chilly, overcast with a few sunbreaks. Too hot for my sweatshirt, too cold for my tank so I alternated between freezing and running.
Total mileage this week: 46.81 miles.

I grabbed this picture practically outside my front door! These are my tulips and they make me smile.

I ran down to Jennings Park today and ran with my first 5k person at 5:00. We did a nice jog together for a total of 2:37 miles.

Then at 6:00 the rest of my group got here. We ran together for 2:51. They were so excited! I love this group of ladies. I’m really enjoying them!
